My lovely friends when I caught them in cosplay at NYCC 2014. Transformation Sequence, Wandering Dame, and Capn Seamus, as Ginny, Alice and Johnny on the right of the top image. And Transformation Sequence as Lara Croft and Capn Seamus as the Doctor in the lower image.
Let me know who the other cosplayers are if you recognize them.

The Alice on the left is theeternalouroboros and I think she said Death was her boyfriend, although I don’t know what his tumblr is or if he even has one. Their craftsmanship was amazing! The clothing fit very well and Death’s mask was unbelievably detailed. I’m so glad we ran into them!

Yeah that’s us! My boyfriend’s tumblr is scanwiches, though you won’t find any cosplay there… just sandwiches :) (We both have strange hobbies… I know…)
Was awesome meeting you guys! Maybe we can all plan another Pretty Deadly group after the next arc comes out :D  wanderingdame:

driftingbystars asks:

Hi there! Your Sheik and Zelda cosplays are absolutely stellar and spot on! :D would you mind telling me how you made Zelda's armor? I'm making a set of them now and I'm having some trouble. ;/ Thank you so much! You're amazing! C:

Hello, thanks for your ask! I was actually surprised I haven’t posted these WIP photos yet so thanks for asking :) Zelda’s armor is a bit weird… and not easy to move in :P but here’s the steps of how I made them! I have put descriptions of each step on my FB over here because it’s easier to describe each picture or whatever… Hope they will help!

Sheik’s costume, all laid out!
I’ve gotten a few asks about materials and how the pieces fit together. Since I didn’t take pics of a step-by-step when I was making it… I laid them all out last time I wore Sheik and have tried to explain a bit about what they are and how they fit together. I hope this makes a little bit of sense, and is helpful to future Sheiks :)
The chainmail especially I get a lot of asks about! I got the fabric here, though they’re out of stock in the Black/Silver right now, that’s the stuff!  Sheik’s costume, all laid out!

I understand I am an evil bitch for saying this… But I love when I’m in a yoga class and there’s a young skinny person who is really horrible at it, and an older curvy lady who is just killing it. I know in yoga everyone is a winner BUT STILL.

Geez… it looks so lumptastic next to the nice replica XD But hopefully they’ll let me into the convention with it just because they feel bad for my slightly melted looking Lemat. No idea how strict NYCC actually is. Anime Boston & Otakon I just walked right past weapons check and nobody batted an eye. Granted, those prop weapons were a wee bit more cartoonish. WE’LL SEE SOON ENOUGH :) I’m getting excited!! Only a few more weeks! Butterfly swords! Carved from poplar, leather wrapped handles, and custom sheath and belt hanger from leather. Turns out I don’t like hand stitching leather much… would much rather do it on a machine but the heavy belting leather my machine just can’t take :( Oh well, no more belts for this costume!!
I also need to get better at sanding/smoothing wood with just hand tools… I sanded them for what felt like forever and added 3 coats of wood glue but the blades are still lumpy looking… Suggestions? Anyone? Biggest challenge is the tapered thickness of the blade, and the beveled edge.  Butterfly swords! Carved from poplar, leather wrapped handles, and custom sheath and belt hanger from leather. More old steampunkery because WHY NOT. I haven’t made a corset in a long while… I think I’ll have to do that again soon because I think they are very fun things to make and to wear (for short periods of time. I don’t know how olde timey folks could stand it wearing them all the time!) More old steampunkery because WHY NOT.
